Good Riddance to Exodus International...

Got up, got some weed pulled and tree-suckers trimmed off, and fed the kindle of kittens (yes, a grouping of kittens is called a kindle, isn't that fucking adorable?!) their breakfast-- they get wet cat food twice a day, in addition to the dry that's always available. I thought today would be yet another Thursday in Summer. Kids on computer and consoles, fighting over stupid shit like my daughter's obsession with pop music that drives my sons insane, and "it's my turn!" What I didn't expect was to see a headline that filled me with such joy. I mean absolute joy! This is so fucking awesome and wonderful and amazing! I'd be doing back-flips if I knew how (and I can't cartwheel in the house, it's not safe, after all). I found out this morning that Exodus International is closing their doors. I'm sure a little background is necessary, as not everyone knows what they are, or were rather. Exodus International was founded in 1976,...

Focus on your own family...

Quick note: I recently stumbled across a blog by a gent in the UK who was raised fundie-- he's writing about what he learned, lived through and what fundies believe. You might, if you're interested, take a peek. I have enjoyed reading his blog ( Leaving Fundamentalism ) so far, and his upcoming book (that I don't know the name of) is on my list of Books To Get! He doesn't know I'm linking back to him, so this isn't a link-for-link thing. I just wanted to share a good read. He's done an excellent job of explaining the weird craziness that fundies put themselves and their brains through-- far better than I could do, I think. Anyway, on to the blog. Last week I read an article on Jezebel that linked back to Good As You and mentioned Focus on the Family. I don't like FotF, for many many reasons. I grew up listening to their radio programs. They were on the Christian Radio channel my mother's radio was glued to, 24/7. For a time, FotF ...

Mormon Gay Pride? Right. PR Pride, maybe?

Trigger Warning: This blog is about recent developments in the LDS community and LGBTQQIA rights. It also comes down on your average Mormon pew-sitter. I don't intend to pull punches when I deal with any branch of Christianity-- even the fringe/smaller ones like Mormons. When you're the majority in any group, you need to be more than mindful-- you need to be reminded! What you do is important, it has consequences. You can't shove your head in the sand and pretend it isn't so whilst trumpeting how much of a "christian nation" the US is (albeit in  your own mind). It's getting to be time to put up, or shut up. If you don't think they're "real christians", you're wrong-- they profess belief is Jesus as the child of God. If you really want to know, take a look at The Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance's Mormon page, they're very good, very open and honest.  But, first, some background. So a couple years ago, the Mo...

Little boy sings a song of hatred-- christians silent and/or celebrating. Like fucking always

Trigger Warning: This blog is about a homophobic video that's making the rounds on the internet. The worst part of the vid is that it's a teeny little boy singing on it. If you're unable to handle such things, please skip this blog with my apologies. It's a shitty thing that I wrote about. Well, ranted, profaned, and wrote about. However, if you're a christian and haven't thrown a fit over this egregious abuse of a child- Fuck you! If you've celebrated your religious freedom and laughed at how precious he is, Fuck you! The minute you claim to be christian and are OK with this vid is the minute you stop being anything remotely like a follower of that Jesus Dude you claim to love so much. Grow up, you pathetic little shits and act like adults. Yes, I'm angry, and I'm hurt, and I'm scared. How many other little kids are out there being taught the exact same thing, with the encouragement of every single christian in the US.  Remember,...

I am GenderQueer

Warning: This blog discussing gender, and it's lack of duality.  If you're not comfortable with the idea that there might be more than males and females skip this one. It meanders a bit, as the topic isn't straight forward. I am not transgendered. However, I do use the pronoun "we" with regards to all members of the LGBTQQIA community [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning, intersex, asexual]. There is no "them" if you're a member of this community-- only us. There are also more than that small handful of letters that stand for our gender and sexual ids and orientations. I heard somewhere there might be 700 of them, or more! That tells me, that there really isn't any "them" at all, only one large, gigantic Us. There never really was a "them" you know, there has always only been us. I've been thinking a lot about gender lately. I do that on occasion, really think about who I am, and how I am. I ...
