I, uh... I have an eating disorder... and you don't know how hard it is to admit that

TW: Weight and Body Issues; Discussion of Eating Disorders; If you're struggling with an eating disorder, please skip this one. I don't want to trigger you, or set your recovery back. If you haven't already, please reach out for help! Here in Tucson, we have Mirasol , but other cities have other resources. Just google Eating Disorder Help and your city. Please! Get help! This is your life, and it's precious. I can't tell you all how hard this is to write. To see it in black and white text on this blogger dashboard... it was hard enough to admit aloud to a couple friends and my partner when I reached out for help. I don't know when, if, this post will be published, I just need to get it out, and then I'll deal with the emotions it brings up... because goddamn, it's an emotional thing. Please let me be vulnerable with you. Please accept this vulnerability for what it is: a gift. Please hold my feelings carefully, and with the compassion that I n...

Objectification

Trigger Warning: This blog will discuss my opinion, thoughts and discomfort with being a redhead, and therefore a wanted commodity. It's my opinion. I'm not trying to change minds, or even ask opinion, only really looking at my feelings on it. I'm sure that this post will upset and possibly piss off redhead fans, of which there are multitudes, and possibly redheads themselves. I'm not trying to do that. I'm merely working through something that's bothering the fuck out of me. At the risk of sounding like a whiny little git, I am feeling a little odd this morning. I don't even know why this bothers me, and to be completely frank-- I'm not bothered, but more weirded out, maybe. Confused? My friend has a thing for red headed women; a lot of men, and women, do. The other day he shared a photo on Facebook, from a group called, "I love Redheads". This girl was a typical, young looking redhead, complete with big brown, sultry eyes, making love to...

We don't hate you because you're beautiful... we dislike you, because you're a vain bitch

Trigger Warning: This blog contains some body issue ranting and a vague discussion of vanity about looks. It's not as ranty as the last body issue blog, it's not very linear, either. It meanders a bit, and I'm sorry for that. I couldn't get the thoughts out in any kind of rational way, and edited extensively. Last week a woman named Samantha Brick wrote an article for the Daily Mail . The Daily Mail is Britain's version of the National Enquirer , or close to it anyway, it's a total rag. I admit, occasionally I get sucked into an article on it, mostly when I haven't realised it's the "Flail". However, this article, I went looking for, on purpose, after Jezebel did a short article on it. Brick (married to a Frenchman, and living in "the French countryside" which she told us a thousand times, and continues to do so every time she writes an article) wrote the cutest, most trite: "Why women hate because I'm beautiful...

Weekend Double Length Feature: Happy Third Anniversary of being a Non-Smoker, to me!

Well, this one is long, hence it being my weekend double-feature post. I worked on it all day, trying to get it right, edited and ready to go for the weekend. It meanders, here and there, but it stays pretty much on topic, reminiscent of a slightly drunk person walking that yellow line for a field sobriety test, I suppose. I won't always post as in-depth on this issue, but I will revisit it. It's one of my inner daemons, after all, and a Girl's got to keep fighting them off all the time, hasn't she? Please enjoy your weekend, with, or without, my scribbles. Laugh, sing, dance, read, sit in silence, whatever it is you love to do! Just enjoy it!   Trigger warning : this post contains body-issues. I have them. Most people do, and I'm going to unpack them, at least in so much as I can handle it. We'll see how far this goes. I am going to be brutally honest, even if it's ugly and mean and nasty and cruel to myself. Believe me when I say I'm not looking ...
